WHY CROWNS COME OFF

This is one of the most common emergencies we see.

There are 3 common reasons:

1) Decay under the crown: Yes, decay can start around the edges of the crown and then work its way under the crown. This usually means a new crown!

2) Crown is "high" - it hits too soon when you bite: This can be easily adjusted and the crown can be recemented and be as good as new.

3) The tooth that the crown fits on Is too short:

This is a design problem and usually means a new crown.

Remember that the best treatment for a crown coming off is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Come in for a checkup so we can help you avoid pain and embarrassment’
