What Makes Our Office Different? Here are just a few of the special things about our office... 1. We take extra time and use special equipment and procedures to assure high quality. For example, we often use special devices called "articulators" and "facebows" when we make bridges. multiple crowns, or dentures. These are sophisticated instruments that allow us to simulate your mouth and jaw movements in the laboratory. Your crown & bridge work then fits more precisely with less possibility of pain, problems, or failure of the work. Why dont all offices do this? These instruments are expensive and it takes time and a well trained staff to perform these procedures.2. We are always on the lookout for new technologies and discoveries that will benefit our patients. For example, we have recently switched to a special new bonding adhesive by 3M Corp. called "Scotchbond." Have you ever noticed the annoying sensitivity of new dental work when the numbness wears off? Scotchbond places a protective coating over sensitive internal portions of the tooth and thus eliminates or reduces postoperative sensitivity. I normally phone patients at night to see how they are doing whenever there is a risk of discomfort and I have noticed a definite improvement in comfort due to Scotchbond. Scotchbond also enhances the strength of fillings and prevents crowns from coming off. Why dont all dentists use it? Scotchbond is not cheap and if an office has accepted a discount type insurance plan, it might be difficult to provide this kind of quality service.3. Your comfort is our #1 priority! Because of this, we don't mind taking the extra time to make you comfortable. We also offer nitrous oxide to all of our patients. " Nitrous" is a mild way of making dentistry more comfortable. Nitrous is similar to having a glass of wine at the dentist but, unlike most medications, nitrous wears off in just a few minutes. Thats why it has become so popular in dentistry -you can leave the office and resume your routine activities. We charge a minimal fee of $9 per visit for Nitrous - just to cover costs. For those patients who are extremely apprehensive, we also can provide stronger medications including general anesthesia in the office. |
