AN INTERVIEW WITH A HAPPY IMPLANT PATIENT (The following is a recent interview between Dr. Wilson and one of his patients. Cy was having problems with his lower denture and had lower implants placed. He has had his implants for about 2 years now.) Dr. W: "Tell us about the problems you were having with your lower denture."Cy: "My lower dentures were quite a problem. In fact I was not able to chew my food properly. They slipped a lot and that would get me really mad! After the third set of dentures, I then decided that something else had to be done. And reading the articles on the implants was when I decided to talk with you and see what kind of arrangements we could come up with." Dr. W: "Do you mean the articles in the newsletter?" Cy: "The articles in the newsletter and also the article that I have seen on the paper and also from conversations with people that were involved with implants." Dr. W: "Well tell us, Cy, if your implants helped your lower denture problem." Cy: "Oh absolutely, since Ive had the implants I have no more problems with the lower denture getting out of place or with chewing my food." Dr. W: "What do you like most about your implant?" Cy: I would have to say just having the lower dentures stay in place is what I was astonished with." Dr. W: "Was it painful having the implant placed?" Cy: "There was no pain involved when the implants were placed. It was a matter of something like 20 minutes and both implants were in. Dr. W: "Tell me Cy, is it hard to maintain the implants and keep them clean?" Cy: "Maintaining the implants is no harder than actually brushing your teeth if you had your own teeth." Dr. W: "Is there anything you dont like about your implants? Cy: "Off hand, I really have nothing bad to say about the implants." Dr. W: "Were your implants worth what you had to pay for them?" Cy: "I would say it was well worth the money." Dr. W: "Cy, thank you so much for your comments. I hope what you had to say will convince someone else to have implants done." Cy: "If it does, it will be well worth it." 02/10/2000 |
