D issatisfaction with their managed care dental plan Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) were shifted to it from a traditional fee-for-service plan, according to the latest survey results. The Calif. Dental Assn. (CDA) approved funding for an independent survey to study the employees reaction to the change. The survey was conducted about 2 years after the change to Managed Dental Care and revealed substantial dissatisfaction. The study revealed that while 91 percent of the district employees were satisfied with the previous fee-for-service plan, that figure plummeted to 37 percent now under managed care. The survey showed that "the primary sources of dissatisfaction were: 1) the more limited choice of dentists, 2) higher costs when going to a non-plan dentist, and 3) dissatisfaction with treatment quality." Doug Bush, a CDA Director, also said the survey results should raise serious questions for people who maintain. that the benefit dollar can be greatly reduced without a detrimental impact on quality. "When you take away too much of the benefit dollar, something is going to give, somewhere." Editors Note: We, at Olive Tree Dental, are not a "managed care" dental office. We are committed to quality, comfort, and cost effectiveness. We believe that you (the patient) can contain dental costs without sacrificing freedom of choice in selecting your dentist. 02/10/2000 |
