Are Bleeding Gums Normal? No it isnt normal, but it is common because gum disease is common. Periodontal (gum) disease is the major reason for tooth loss in adults!Bleeding gums indicate that active gum disease is present. The diagram on the left illustrates gum disease. A probe is shown measuring the periodontal pocket that forms due to gum disease. Bone loss is also often present Eventually this tooth could be lost!
